Sonata Fantasia

$400.00

18x24 gallery wrapped canvas

Mixed media spray paint and oil

In a quiet, moonlit salon, the figure of a ghostly woman sits at a grand piano.  She plays for the memory of a love so profound that even time and silence cannot erase it.

Beethoven never named his Piano Sonata No. 14, Moonlight Sonata. He named the piece Sonata quasi una Fantasia. The title, Moonlight Sonata, was coined after Beethoven’s death by a German poet and critic, Ludwig Relistab. When I decided to paint Sonata Fantasia, I decided to honor Beethoven by naming my piece with the original name he had chosen for his piano sonata No. 14.
